Shoppers at Luton’s The Mall can strike a pose and snap a selfie in a piece of 3D street art celebrating the opening of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV’s new library.

Located right in the centre of The Mall, on Wednesday 17 August and Thursday 18 August, the 3D artwork has been commissioned by the Â鶹´«Ã½AV as a fun representation of its

It uses an optical illusion to create a breathtaking, three-dimensional image, looking down through the seven storeys of the library. Visitors can take selfies of themselves balancing on piles of books or teetering on the edge of a huge drop.

Share the selfie on twitter using the #JumpintoBeds. Prizes are for grabs for the best photo with £40 in Amazon vouchers going to the winner and two runner-up prizes of £20 in vouchers each.

As well as marking the opening of the new library it comes on the eve of students receiving their A level results.

Bob Cozens Director of Admissions at the Â鶹´«Ã½AV said: “We wanted to find a fun way to make sure students who are thinking about going to university after getting their A level results were aware of the huge investment in student facilities that’s been going on at Bedfordshire.â€

The stunning seven-storey state-of the art library is just one part of a five-year, £180m investment, to transform the Â鶹´«Ã½AV’s campuses.

The new library will provide the Â鶹´«Ã½AV’s students with an all-in-one centre for learning, studying and socialising. It has:

  • 7400m2 of space
  • 7 floors
  • 916 study spaces including group study, quiet study and silent study
  • 530 PCs
  • 154,000 books across 6km of shelves
  • 38 lockers
  • 3 teaching rooms
  • 2 presentation rooms
  • Cafe
