Fatima Maniar
Lecturer in Education (Computing)
I am the Lead Lecturer for Computing Education in the School of Education at the Â鶹´«Ã½AV.
With over 20 years of experience as a teacher and leader in education, I have held several management roles, developing strategies and initiatives to support students, schools, and educational leaders. Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in teacher training, from contributing to the development of the Computing PGCE at the Â鶹´«Ã½AV of Gloucestershire to supporting PGCE students and new teachers entering the profession.
As an EdTech Demonstrator, I supported teachers and schools nationwide in integrating IT and computing into their practice. During this time, I was invited to participate in several national events, including hosting a blended learning session in collaboration with the Department for Education (DfE). Additionally, I am a Fellow at , an organisation that promotes climate action and AI development in schools by providing curriculum resources that empower students to engage with and apply technology in meaningful ways.
Currently, I teach on several undergraduate courses, including leading a program where I have had the opportunity to create unit resources and collaborate with tech companies to explore how emerging technologies can support students with diverse learning needs.
As a former Secondary Lead Computing Teacher, I am now dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation of computing teachers.
